Online Science and Math Degrees
If science is about exploring unsolved phenomenon, math is about calculating how those phenomenon work. The beautiful merger between science and math is prevalent in many careers.
Many of the benefits that modern age has provided us have either been because of advances in science, math or a combination. Both areas have many subfields that you could choose from. A career in science could mean working with medicine, quantum physics, environment, neuroscience or any number of physical or life sciences.
Math, similarly, offers a wide array of career options. Statisticians more often than not are very successful in their fields. As a statistician you could work in any field and your work will have long reaching effects. Statistics is a method of quantifying actions, behaviours or anything that needs to be measured. A degree in statistics trains you to transform variables into meaningful numbers that others can use to analyse and interpret.
Applied mathematics, alone or in combination with computer science reduce problems into basic mathematics. And a degree in applied mathematics can land you in any industry that focuses on development, strategy, research and problem solving: the military, medical research, pharmaceuticals, the government, agriculture or aeronautics.
At the beginning of your career or as a career building move, there are a number of online degrees available. In both fields, most employers expect at least a four year bachelors. For academia and research masters and PhDs are an expected qualification.
