Instructional Technology Online Degrees
Whereas instructional technology might include white boards and black boards, teaching instruction involves more than just those basic implements. With technology pervading every aspect of life these days, it would be remiss to exclude education from its influence.
In the corporate or business sector, instructional technology is a degree that different kinds of professionals would benefit from. Training managers, human resource managers, training and development professionals and anyone and everyone who works in the capacity to impart information or knowledge to others.
Instructional technologists do work outside the world of academia but a great deal of focus remains committed to education. They aim to understand how people learn in order to incorporate this information into instructional systems and tools. These individuals can assist in a school or college or institute in multiple ways:
- teaching educators how to incorporate computers in their lessons
- creating virtual reality/ simulation games used to teach high risk skills
- designing web based software to aid education
- applying learning theories to instructional tools
Since the degree focuses on education and technology, those are the two obvious cores. Learning theory; evaluation and design; trends in instructional methods are just some of the education courses on the syllabus. Obviously applicants should be computer literate. During this degree they will learn software development; computer hardware; design development and multimedia programs.
