Crime Scene Online Degrees

Anyone who manages to flip the channel a few times a day will come across the term “crime scene” in many television shows. Crime scene forensics, crime scene units, crime scene investigations; all have become part of the TV show jargon that we pick up. And off screen, crime scene jobs and degrees are equally interesting!

A career in crime scene investigation requires you to use your deductive skills and act the scientist. Looking for forensic evidence and clues in a crime scene is a taxing job considering the time constraints and pressure of finding the criminal in time. Though your investigation is limited to looking for evidence, not determining who the criminal(s) is!

There are certifications, associate’s bachelor’s and masters degrees available online in this field. With the acquisition of these or a focus in crime scenes, you can become a crime scene investigator or a crime scene technician. Either ways your degree will have a focus of both crime related aspects and clinical sciences. Coursework will include:

  • Types of crime scene evidence
  • collection and preserving evidence
  • Computers and evidence analysis
  • biology
  • chemistry
  • physics
