Online Associate Degrees

An associate’s degree is a two year or 60 credit hours degree that is usually awarded by either a community college, a junior college or a regular bachelors awarding university. A full time student can also finish the degree faster; most online students choose the part time route.

Usually, if you choose to enroll in an associate's degree it is either with intent to transfer into a bachelor’s program later or the associate’s degree is a vocational or occupational degree.

Associate’s degrees are as follows:

  • Associate of Applied Science
  • Associate of Arts
  • Associate of Science
  • Vocational or Occupational Degree

Associates of arts and science are both usually designed for you to transfer after into completing a four year program. A degree in associate of applied science can also be used as a starting point of your career. These are often in some sort of occupational field such as graphic design, paralegal or business.

An occupational degree prepares you to enter a career field without an undergraduate degree. An overlap with some applied science associate’s, you can get an occupational degree in medical assisting or IT.
