Interior Design
All space benefits from a combination of utility and beauty; especially in this day and age when space itself is an expensive commodity. Designers are working to fit more and more into smaller spaces. People often spend time and money on create gorgeous unique exteriors and neglect the interior even though what’s inside is what really counts in terms of buildings!
Interior design takes into account utility, structure, lighting, colors, temperature, moods, fabric, furniture and fittings to create one cohesive unit. Obviously with each building or space, there is a different function, different ownership and different accompanying thought process. Like in any art, over the years interior designers develop a signature that is visible even in very different projects.
As an interior designer you could be employed as a private consultant, a freelance designer, or as someone working with a firm. And you could be hired to decorate a house, a room in a hotel, an entire chain of hotels, a restaurant, a hospital, an office or an institution. Or you could be providing a solution to a space problem. Over years you could be more renowned for one specific genre but after a degree in this discipline you have to collect experience in a vast range of spaces before you can be trusted.
Online degrees in interior design contain at times some campus components. Though there are a variety of online institutes that offer 2 year and 4 year interior design programs.
